The rules of the editorial Board

Article 1 (Purpose)

This rules stipulate the operation of the Editorial Board for Journal of Global and Area Studies (JGA), which is published by Institute for Global and Area Studies , Pukyong National University.

Article 2 (Organization of Editorial Board)

  • 1.The editorial board shall be organized to carry out the edit and review of the academic journals.
  • 2.The editorial board shall be composed of one editor-in-chief and up to 15 board members of editors.
  • 3.The editor-in-chief shall have a four year term and may be reappointed.
  • 4.The editor-in-chief shall convene and preside over the meeting.
  • 5.Board members of editors shall have a four year term and may be reappointed.

Article 3 (Decision making process and editorial board meeting)

  • 1.The meeting of editorial board shall be regularly held before the publication of the journal in order to appoint reviewers and to determine whether or not to accept the manuscripts.
  • 2.The meeting of editorial board shall be convened by the editor-in-chief and more than half members’ attendance, and the decision shall be approved by more than half of attendants.
  • 3.The off-line meeting of editorial board can be replaced by the e-mail notification to editorial board members and their responses.

Article 4 (Tasks of editorial board)

  • 1.Receiving submitted manuscripts for the publication of journals
  • 2.Decision of manuscripts to be published after screening of any plagiarism
  • 3.Controlling the numbers of published manuscripts
  • 4.Appointment of reviewers and the request for manuscript review
  • 5.Editing and planning of the journals
  • 6.Publication and distribution of the Journal
  • 7.Discussions on matters relating to the editing of the journal
  • 8.Business on the on-line publication of Journal and their on-line disclosure

Article 5 (Decision Appeal Policies)

Appeal method

  • If the author has any appeals to the review process and peer-review results, he or she can file an appeal in writing to the editorial board.

Initial appeal-handling process

  • The editorial board delivers the author’s written appeal to the reviewers, and if the reviewers accept the author's appeal, the peer-review result is subject to correction.

final appeal-handling process

  • If the reviewers do not accept the author's appeal, the editorial board thoroughly reconsiders the author's appeal and the reviewer's comments. If it is determined that the appeal is reasonable, the relevant reviewers are replaced by other reviewers

These Rules shall enter into force on 1 Sep., 2016.
